31 Fundamentals.
One Culture. One Klover.
Klover’s success is driven by teamwork, valuing others, and continuous learning. We add value to clients not only through our work but by who we are, and our employees set us apart from the competition. These 31 “Fundamentals” define THE KLOVER WAY, and they guide the culture that sets us apart.
1. THINK SAFE. WORK SAFE.
Know and practice the safety procedures for your job. We’re all part of the Klover family, so watch out for the safety of your teammates to ensure everyone goes home safely at the end of the day. Plan properly and never take shortcuts that compromise your safety or that of your teammates and customers.
2. CREATE WIN/WIN SOLUTIONS.
It’s a 2-way street. Think from the other person’s perspective. Find out what they need and find a way to help them meet their needs while fulfilling your own. Respond to our customers’ needs consistently, deliver value, and meet their highest standards of reliability.
3. ACT WITH INTEGRITY.
Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to doing the right thing in every action and decision you make, especially when no one’s looking. Always tell the truth. If you make a mistake, own up to it, apologize, and make it right. Honesty and integrity build long-term relationships.
4. HAVE A PASSION FOR EXCELLENCE.
Take pride in the quality of everything you touch and everything you do. Don’t tolerate mediocrity from yourself or your teammates. Always ask yourself, “Is this my best work?” and “Am I proud of the work that I’ve done?”
5. WORK SMART.
Be organized and plan your work and your day for maximum efficiency. Have all the necessary tools and resources before starting your work. Know the priorities and follow the plan.
6. HONOR COMMITMENTS.
Build and maintain trust by doing what you say you’re going to do when you say you’re going to do it. This includes being on time for work, meetings, and promises. If a commitment can’t be fulfilled, notify others early and agree on a new deliverable or timeframe to be honored.
7. EMBRACE CHANGE AND GROWTH.
What got us here isn’t what will get us to the next level. Get outside your comfort zone rather than hanging on to old ways of doing things. Be excited by the possibilities that change and growth will bring. Be flexible and adaptable.
8. BE POSITIVE.
Your attitude is a choice, and it’s contagious. Choose to be upbeat, optimistic, and enthusiastic. Work from the assumption that people are good, fair, and honest, and that the intent behind their actions is positive. Give people the benefit of the doubt.
9. DELIVER RESULTS.
While effort is important, our customers and teammates expect results. Follow up on everything and take responsibility for ensuring that tasks are completed. Set high goals, use measurements to track your progress, and hold yourself accountable for achieving those results.
10. BE RELENTLESS
ABOUT IMPROVEMENT.
Regularly evaluate the way you/we work to find ways to improve. Don’t be satisfied with the status quo. “Because we’ve always done it that way” is not a reason. Ask, “Why?” Find ways to get things done better, faster, and more efficiently.
11. COLLABORATE.
Share information and work together. Collaborate internally and with our customers and partners to find better solutions. Seek out different perspectives. Collaboration generates better ideas than working alone.
12. LISTEN GENEROUSLY.
Listening is more than simply “not speaking.” Give others your undivided attention. Minimize distractions and let go of the need to agree or disagree with the person who is speaking. Be curious to know more rather than jumping to conclusions. Above all, listen to understand.
13. SPEAK UP AND SPEAK STRAIGHT.
Speak honestly and professionally in a way that helps to make progress. Say what you mean, and be willing to ask questions, share ideas, or raise issues that may cause conflict when it’s necessary for team success. Be courageous enough to say what needs to be said, and address issues directly with those who are involved or affected.
14. GET CLEAR ON EXPECTATIONS.
Discuss expectations upfront to create clarity and avoid misunderstandings. Set expectations for others and as when you’re not clear on what they expect of you. End all interactions with clarity about action items, responsibilities, and due dates.
15. PAY ATTENTION TO THE DETAILS.
Details matter. Double-check your work so you do it right the first time. The goal is to get things right, not just get them done. Rework is not okay.
16. GO THE EXTRA MILE.
Be willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish the job. Whether it’s putting in extra time when necessary or doing something not in your job description. The extra mile separates the ordinary from the extraordinary.
17. TAKE INITIATIVE.
Be a self-starter. Get help if you need it, but don’t wait for others to solve the problem. Anticipate needs and be proactive, not reactive. Preventing issues is always better than solving them.
18. HAVE EACH OTHERS’ BACKS.
It’s about us, not any single person. Don’t let your ego or personal agenda get in the way of doing what’s best for the team. Be willing to step into another role or help a co-worker when that’s what’s required for success. Motivate your team to produce and give their best. Help each other succeed.
19. CATCH THE FALLING BABY.
Instead of pointing fingers, just fix it. Then figure out what happened and why. Learn from mistakes and improve the process.
20. OWN YOUR
WORK-LIFE BALANCE.
Own your work-life balance. Schedule and use your PTO to take a break, refresh, and recharge. To give your best, you have to be at your best. Take care of our most valuable resource: you!
21. SHOW MEANINGFUL
APPRECIATION.
Someone knock it out of the park? Thank them. Point out what’s right (not just what’s wrong). Celebrate success. Meaningful appreciation goes a long way. Be grateful.
22. MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
Be an active part of your community. Give back by contributing your time, effort, and, where appropriate, money to make it better. Every little bit matters. You can do it to make a difference.
23. ACT LIKE IT’S YOURS.
Make decisions as if this was your company. Be smart about our resources. Look for places where you can reduce or eliminate wasted time, money, materials, or other effort. Ask yourself, “How would I make this a better place to work? Will this help the company succeed?”
24. BE HUNGRY TO GROW.
Be a lifelong learner. Be curious to know more. Ask questions. Dig deeper. Have a growth mindset. Master your craft.
25. FOLLOW OPERATING
PROCEDURES.
Follow operating procedures to ensure consistency and high performance. Conduct our business in accordance with applicable codes and safety requirements, and do not tolerate those who would do otherwise. If you don’t know the SOP, ask someone for clarification.
26. MAKE HEALTHY CHOICES.
Take care of yourself at home and at work. Eat well, exercise, and get adequate sleep. Support each other in making healthy choices. The healthier you are, the more you’ll thrive personally and professionally.
27. WALK THE TALK.
The best way to influence others is through your own example. Take responsibility, both formally and informally, to coach, guide, teach, and mentor others. Be the change you want to see.
28. BE WILLING TO
SWEEP THE FLOOR.
Be willing to do the mundane and ordinary things necessary to get the job done. Nothing is beneath any of us. If you see it, do it.
29. TREAT EACH OTHER
LIKE FAMILY.
Our relationships go deeper than simply being teammates at work. Show your compassion, whether it’s a kind word during a tough stretch, a friendly smile each morning, or a helping hand in stressful times.
30. TAKE PRIDE IN
OUR APPEARANCE.
The appearance of ourselves, our equipment, and our job sites make a strong statement about the pride we take in our performance. Make sure that message shouts “Quality!” Take responsibility for keeping our work environment clean, neat, and organized.
31. KEEP THINGS FUN.
While our passion for excellence is real, remember that the world has bigger problems than the daily challenges that make up our work. Stuff happens. Keep perspective. Don’t take things personally or take yourself too seriously. Laugh every day.
