Building More Than Projects: Klover’s Commitment to Education and the Next Generation

From apprenticeships and hands-on training to technical education, mentorship, and exposure to modern construction technology, Klover is investing in the people who will build the future of our communities.

At Klover, we spend a lot of time thinking about the future of construction. We invest in prefabrication, Building Information Modeling (BIM), advanced manufacturing, technology, and better ways to plan and execute increasingly complex projects.

But the future of construction will not be determined by technology alone.

It will be built by people.

That belief is at the heart of Klover’s commitment to education. By supporting apprenticeships, creating opportunities for hands-on learning, working with schools, and helping introduce students to careers in construction, we are investing in something much larger than our own workforce. We are helping develop the skilled professionals who will build the schools, hospitals, data centers, homes, workplaces, and infrastructure our communities will depend on for generations.

Why Is Construction Education So Important?

The construction industry is changing quickly.

Traditional carpentry and skilled trades remain essential, but today’s construction professionals are also working with BIM, digital coordination, prefabrication, advanced manufacturing, logistics, automation, and increasingly sophisticated building systems.

That means workforce development cannot focus only on filling today's open positions. We need to prepare people for the construction industry they will encounter tomorrow.

Klover believes that starts by giving students and emerging professionals opportunities to see the industry firsthand, learn from experienced people, develop practical skills, and understand just how many different career paths modern construction offers.

A student interested in construction today could eventually become a carpenter, superintendent, project manager, estimator, BIM specialist, prefabrication professional, manufacturing leader, safety professional, engineer, or executive.

Sometimes the most important first step is simply showing someone that those opportunities exist.

Apprenticeships Turn Education Into Experience

Construction apprenticeship programs remain one of the strongest bridges between education and a successful career in the skilled trades because they combine structured learning with real-world experience.

Klover is proud to support apprenticeship and on-the-job training as part of our commitment to developing skilled craftspeople.

The impact can be seen directly on our projects.

During Klover's work on the historic Merion Golf Club clubhouse renovation, nine members of the project team were either graduates or active participants in registered apprenticeship training. Apprentices accumulated more than 2,200 hours of on-the-job training while contributing to technically demanding framing, drywall, ceiling, and architectural construction.

They were not simply observing experienced craftspeople. They were contributing to a real project, solving real construction challenges, and developing their skills alongside experienced professionals.

One of the Klover carpenters working on the project had progressed through apprenticeship himself before earning a gold medal at the 2024 National Craft Championships.

That progression represents exactly what workforce development can accomplish: education becomes experience, experience develops expertise, and expertise creates an opportunity to mentor the people coming next.

Connecting Schools With the Real World of Construction

Klover's commitment to education also extends beyond active jobsites.

We believe there is tremendous value in creating stronger connections between the construction industry and the schools, technical programs, colleges, and educators preparing students for their careers.

That includes supporting technical education, creating opportunities for students to experience construction environments, participating in facility tours and career conversations, and helping educators connect classroom learning with what is happening in the industry today.

These relationships are particularly important because modern construction looks very different from the industry many students imagine.

Walk through a Klover prefabrication facility and you will see skilled trades working alongside BIM professionals, production teams, project managers, logistics specialists, quality-control processes, digital information, and advanced manufacturing equipment.

Visit one of today's complex construction projects and you will see engineering, technology, manufacturing, project management, and craftsmanship intersecting every day.

Exposing students to that environment can change the way they think about construction careers.

Preparing Students for the Future of Construction

Education must also evolve alongside the industry.

The next generation of builders will still need craftsmanship, construction knowledge, safety awareness, and field experience. But they will increasingly need digital literacy, communication skills, adaptability, and an understanding of how information moves from design through manufacturing and installation.

BIM and prefabrication are already changing construction career paths. Artificial intelligence and automation will expand those opportunities further.

The goal should not be to choose between traditional trade knowledge and emerging technology. The future workforce needs both.

A carpenter who understands digital models becomes more capable. A BIM professional who understands field construction makes better decisions. A manufacturing team that understands installation can design better processes.

Education becomes most powerful when those worlds connect.

Investing in Education Strengthens Communities

There is also a larger reason this matters to Klover.

Construction is fundamentally connected to community.

We build the places where people learn, work, receive healthcare, live, innovate, and connect. Developing local talent creates career opportunities while helping ensure our industry has the skilled people needed to continue building those communities.

A strong construction career can provide far more than a job. It can create a profession, financial opportunity, leadership experience, technical expertise, and a path that continues evolving throughout someone's working life.

When companies invest in education, apprenticeships, mentorship, and workforce development, the impact can extend well beyond a single employee or project.

We strengthen families. We strengthen the construction industry. And ultimately, we strengthen our communities.

Building the Future Means Investing in People

At Klover, innovation will continue to be an important part of our future.

We will keep exploring better ways to prefabricate. We will continue advancing BIM and digital coordination. We will invest in technology, processes, manufacturing, and smarter approaches to construction.

But none of those investments can replace people.

The future of construction depends on experienced professionals willing to teach, young people willing to learn, educators willing to create opportunities, and companies willing to invest the time and resources required to bring those groups together.

That is why education is not separate from what Klover does.

It is part of how we build.

Because the projects we construct today will serve our communities for decades, but the people we educate, mentor, and inspire today may shape those communities for generations.

And that may be one of the most important things we ever build.
